The Hobby Lobbotimization of decor and gifts.
“I don’t think that’s what that verse says,” I commented as I sat down with my cup of coffee at our table at the medical guesthouse where we’re staying this week.
“It’s ‘her’ as in Zion. As in Jerusalem,” John said.
“How nice that they made a mug for Zion!”
John was right. (He usually is on these matters.)
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. --Psalm 46:4-6
I posited that a home decor brand called The Real Bible might be a fun project. John suggested, “Lord, how long shall the wicked triumph?” in the bouncy, loopy font that is universally used on “Christian” home decor.
I like it. You’ll be the first to know when I launch my new brand.
We miss our daughter and our kitty. I successfully lunched with one good friend last week, but Cancer canceled plans with another good friend who lives nearby, and I really felt the lack of that visit by the end of Sunday. Being home last weekend after a week away showed me how much our house, while acceptably clean enough (it’s fine; it really is. I know this. But.) has crept into neglect and decrepitude. How I long for a warm Saturday to throw open the windows, wash the walls, declutter, tidy, and clean. And maybe paint. I had just settled on a new color for the living room walls, thinking I might want to paint the living room after 10 years in this house, when John fell ill. My daughter and I had been talking about painting her kitchen and cabinets, too.
I’m earnestly praying that when the break comes after radiation, I’ll be able to attempt some form of fresh start and spring cleaning, not because the house is awful or anything like that, but because I mentally need it myself. Very Badly.

What a Wise Woman that Whitsun is.
Whitsun greeted me at the door this morning. The last couple times, she is right at the door waiting for me to open it. She must run very, very, fast to get to the door before I open it. Does she hear me drive in? Maybe she is just that fast and she heads to the door when she hears the first beep of the digital lock. She got lots of petting this morning and I did a bit of playing with her as well. She is one very cute and friendly kitty.
