The pink is quite nice. Could even be brighter! But you have to live with it. Cats are fun! One of ours tried the drinking for just a bit. Lasted just long enough that we observed her, and she knew we had. Another accidentally fell in when a guest left the seat up unbenounced to her, because after the first drinker, it was always closed. She who fell in, in the middle of the night of course, raised quite the ruckus and was fiercely indignant because it was certainly OUR fault that it was up.
Yes, that is a thing. My 6-toed all black cat jumped up on the toilet, expecting the lid to be down because I always did that. But I had just got off the toilet and the cat had no idea that she might fall in.
I don't think she hit more than three drops of water before she skated out again and into the dry bathtub. It was so funny. Gotta say, that cat had great reaction time.
I must say, Bad Art Cherub is a one-of-a-kind piece. His horn would seem to invite some small, trailing plant.
I don't think you could do better for a cockatoo color. Bright purple might be a bit much!
The crabapple is magnificent, despite its flaws. Perhaps an arborist or a professional at a nursery might indeed be the way to go for suggestions. If it were in my yard, I wouldn't give up on it yet.
Good for the tree peony, holding its own. That's a lovely pink.
I like the "Allium Poufs" paint name, too. I wonder if it's one person's job just to name the paint colors when they're produced. Wouldn't that be fun?
Cats do love bathrooms! We've never had any who were obsessed with toilets---just toilet paper!---but we did have a gray Persian who'd sit on the vanity and stick his paw under the faucet when we ran water. Too funny!
Very glad to hear John is steadily progressing. It must seem agonizingly slow to both of you, though, especially compared to how he was a year ago. But much better than a few months ago, so there's that. 🕯️
Your garden is gorgeous, Jenny! Thanks for the flower photos. Peonies are great, but they always bring ants into the house. So I float the blossoms in a large glass bowl I have. That keeps the ants from escaping.
Love the "Bad Art Cherub." I must say, I looked at it a mite askance, until I read the caption and laughed. And your little terracotta "Venus de Milo." Hope she lasts!
I suppose Whitsun's drinking from the toilet is preferable to a large dog's messy lapping. At least cats are neat about it. I've heard dogs lapping in the toilet clear across my friends' houses.
Sorry about your RA rearing up. Sounds like your immune system is letting go, as bodies often do after a major stress episode is over (for now 🤞). You didn't allow it to interfere with your care of and worry about, John until you had time for yourself. I hope the doctor can help!
I need to make my gardens more "whimsical". You have a real knack for finding the most interesting things to tuck in here and there. Wandering through your gardens every time I went to your place to take care of Whitsun was a pleasure.
Ditto to all the previous comments about cats, gardens, John’s and your own health. Gardening is my escape from this terrible time in the US we are in that also affects the world. Good thoughts and prayers, not being trite, are offered for you and John.
Your garden colors really pop, as designers might say. I like the hot pink for your cockatoo. Whitsun didn't think anyone was watching ... And yes, I think the best treatment for you is spending time in the garden.

Hilarious!!! And I'll bet kitty was even more furious when you laughed at her dunking.
Yes she was.Got the evil eye and a hiss WITH arched back, once she was back on the floor!
Cockatoo is rocking his pink!

Om goodness
Cats being Cats
Thus why I have to leave the covers down.
But also understand not being able to these days.
Also
You owe us no apology
Life happens
I love your honesty of the last 7mos
Keep gardening -- literally and for your soil.
Blessings,
Valerie

Let's go weird-stuff shopping later this summer!
Your gardens are gorgeous. I, of course, would keep the cockatoo pink. And every time I see a picture of Whitsun I get the itch to get another cat.
I would let the crabapple live--its flowers are just too pretty.

Also, Didi does the same thing. I expect it of Charlie, but Didi?
So classy!
