How brave they all are, these bodies— breasts oh so nearer to the ground each year. They swim so boldly in silly flowered swimming suits, unshy in front of the handsome young lifeguard. They chat naked in the locker room as if they were at the church potluck. Lucille hit a deer and now has a new car. “Soo baah roo,” she says carefully. I heard the whole story. Why are our words for imperfect bodies so cruel? These brave bodies have nursed babies, fed themselves during famines emotional and nutritional, cradled the infant and the dying, shaken with laughter and sobs. When a belly leans against a hospital bed, what is size?

Superb commentary!
Whitsun tummy speckles---priceless! She's an ambitious and dutiful kitty, doing all that patrolling.
"... breasts oh so nearer to the ground each year." whew.
I had a very serious cat who would not sleep until she got her body perfectly symmetrical. And then there is serious little Whitsun...love it!
